rpm -V command usage

Hi all,

I want to do 'rpm -V <packagename>' command. (verify option and not verbose).
But I've confusion in the output. Can anyone please tell me what will be the output of this command, when a package installed is given at the command line.
Similarly tell me the case if the packege is not installed.
