Job Description
Our client is looking for a Senior Solution Product Manager who has a strong background in the areas of Internet of Things (IoT), IoT PAAS platform and analytics. The solution product manager leads the life cycle of a system, from definition and go-to-market plans to short and long-term roadmap plans of one or more “whole systems” that spans cross-BU and ecosystem partner and/or cross-platforms. Aligned with the requirements of key beachhead customers, the solution manager drives the roadmap and assures that the fully architected, tested, and documented system meets the requirements and increases company’s value in the identified target market segment. The solution manager works with a system team of System Architects, Program Managers, Technical Marketing Engineers and Test Engineers under the direction of the System Leader and must also closely collaborate with Account Teams, BU PMs and their Technical Leads, CMO, AS/CA and 3rd-party partners.
 
Responsibilities
  • Develop the solution's go-to-market requirements and the roadmap, engaging BUs, AS/CA, CMO, and other stakeholders to agree on development priorities and link product level features to cross-platform architectural system concepts and innovations.
  • Primary author for the System Requirements Document (SRD).
  • Drive the Concept Commit and timely completion of other SM roles in the ISO/TL9000 and Cisco CPDM processes.
  • Develop customer-facing presentation(s) and sections of the company validated design.
  • Deliver internal training/TOI presentation(s).
  • Develop the business case for investment in the system and any new feature development requests in the business units (BUs), third-parties and/or products from Advanced Services.
  • Be responsible for system success in the market and track the system’s influenced bookings, customer satisfaction ratings, and other system-related metrics.
  • Assess and communicate effectively the market conditions, customer decision drivers, and the system’s competitive dynamics when applied to complex architectural issues. Identify possible mismatches between current directions and future market changes.
  • Become a "Trusted Advisor" to lead customers for their system(s). SMs establish relationships at the customer for purposes of driving requirements and becoming a “go-to” person for those account's AM/BDM, Client Directors, and/or theatre leads.
  • As necessary, respond to customer-issued written RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs, inserting proper messaging for their system. The SM ensures that proper business positioning, system representation and marketing messaging is applied to the response, ensuring proper alignment of the overall system and its associated company and third party components is established.
  • Establish self as one of the system’s thought leaders, evangelizing the system’s roadmap/vision as well as its value, both internally and externally, for organization by completing industry articles, authoring white papers and presenting at conferences and internal events such as SEVTs.
  • Establish self as a trusted collaborator within organization by having an open and engaging collaboration style and encourage feedback on your system. Exhibit an ability to lead virtual team efforts, partner across organizational boundaries and influence BU platform and their go-to-market directions.
  • Identify competitive threats and market direction changes, which may affect future system plans. Efforts will assist BU and third parties with better system and customer alignment. Competitive research efforts will also support account team sales efforts, aiding in system and product positioning.
Desired Skill Sets
  • Experience in product/ solution management in the areas of Internet of Things (IoT), IoT PAAS platform and analytics
  • Experience in industrial verticals such as manufacturing, energya and transportation
  • Typically have several years of experience as a Field CSE, BDM or SEM, or as a Product Manager or Engineering Manager, preferably combined with an advanced degree in EE, computer science or mathematics. MBA is a plus.
  • Ideal SM candidates should have an excellent understanding of global IoT and industrial vertical markets drivers and requirements as well as a solid, but broad, understanding of networking and application technologies relevant to the system.
  • The ideal candidate should also have extensive experience in presenting to field teams and industry forums and demonstrated ability to engage customers and account teams.
  • Must have excellent listening, verbal and written communications as well as influencing skills.
  • Ability to travel to customer, company organizations and partner sites, including international travel
