Our client is seeking candidates for a full-time Senior Application Developer. This role is responsible for the support of Web-based Java applications, including development, testing, and deployment of front-end interfaces and back end databases. The Senior Application Developer will assume a leadership role in a large project to create open-source Web-based and desktop software to annotate, store, search, and process biomedical images. This exciting work will enable researchers to discover image-based indicators of disease that will transform medical care. The software developed will become part of a national infrastructure supporting biomedical research, and will have high impact throughout the medical community. The Senior Application Developer will be responsible for designing, developing and documenting the software, working with collaborators and users to understand and implement their requirements,and evaluating and disseminating the software.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop/program software bug fixes/enhancements for new and existing features
- Provide software/technical architecture design and documentation for new and existing features
- Provide recommendations on the appropriate software technology solutions
Required Skills:
- 4-year college degree in computer science or related field
- At least 4 years of related experience and programming experience Java.
- At least 1 year dedicated experience in database programming with high degree of proficiency in SQL.
- Experience with basic server administration tasks, especially in linux operating system.
- Must be able to learn new programming skills and open source platforms quickly.
- Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Must be able to work independently and in a team environment.
- Must apply critical thinking in problem solving.
Desired Skills:
- Advanced degree in Computer Science is desired
- Experience with DICOM programming, DICOM databases, and dcm4chee or similar.
- Experience with vmware server and managing virtual machines
- Experience with rich web application development, such as in Adobe Flex, MS Silverlight, or Cappuccino.
- Experience in image processing and programming with DICOM.
