Windows 8: Adding Shortcuts to Metro UI

Introduction

In this article we are going to explore how to create a shortcut in your applications, such as a shutdown, restart and many more in Windows 8. Here we have to show a shortcut such as restart in my applications and we have to choose it. In Windows 8 the user interface has improved over time, there will be better methods available in Windows 8, but these methods we must use. If we know of something else.

Here, we find a solution to creating a shortcut for the Windows 8 operating system. So, we have to follow these methods to create a restart shortcut in Windows 8 (given below).

The steps for creating the shortcut are as follows.

Step 1 : Open Windows 8, Show on desktop then right-click on it, select new and then select Shortcut.

Step 2 : After create a shortcut we have to enter the location of the item and click to next. We have to use this code.

Code : Shutdown.exe -r -t 00

Step 3 : After entering the respective code, it will ask you to enter a name for the Shortcut. Enter the respective name of the item which we have to make.

Step 4 : Click on Finish, and show the icon on desktop.

Step 6 : Now we have to change the icon of the the shortcut; right-click on this shortcut then choose property and change the icon on this shortcut.

Here, we have to see there are many images selected according to our shortcut.

Step 7 : Now click on Apply and ok. We have created a shortcut for the Restart option.

Step 8 : In this step we have to Restart option in the Metro interface, we have to follow these steps. Go to the Windows Explorer.

Step 9 : Enter the following code in the address bar:

Step 10 : After copy, paste show this icon in the accessories. Open it.

Step 11 :  Now we have successfully created a shortcut for restart in the Metro interface in Windows 8.
