Using MS SQL with ASP.Net core project

Dear Tekkies,

I have Microsoft SQL Server 2005 management studio express installed on the server. Developing a ASP.NET Core project using MS SQL with C#. MVC also would be preferable.

I have got experience with VB, little in C# and .NET core.

Can someone assist me the step by step instructions and connection string etc.
