The Software Engineer - Front End Developer is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and testing of Get Set for School | Handwriting Without Tears | Keyboarding Without Tears (GSS | HWT | KWT) digital products and solutions to provide a first-class and memorable experience.
 
Desired skills include Drupal.
 
Job Duties
  • Architect and implement front-end web applications and reusable components using current web technologies and frameworks.
  • Collaborate with back-end and full stack developers to enhance the user experience.
  • Work closely with UX and visual design teams to develop creative solutions that take into consideration the technical, organizational, schedule, and business requirements.
  • Collaborate with support engineers and customer experience teams to understand our customer's needs.
  • Work closely with product owner, business analyst and customer experience team to understand use cases and user needs.
  • Problem solves for web-based and digital development issues.
  • Develop sites with responsive-designed adaptive technologies to meet the variable needs of differing browsers on multiple devices.
  • Develop code for websites, mobile applications, social platforms, email marketing, and digital products/
  • Perform quality assurance on code, including cross browser and platform testing.
  • Outline testing steps, develop unit tests, and participate in verification of features to maintain a high-quality software code repository.
  • Create and optimize web-ready graphics and digital images.
  • Write technical documentation related to processes and specifications.
  • Troubleshoot general scripting and code issues and front end applications.
Must haves
  • BS or BA in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in core front-end technologies, preferably in a commercial environment.
  • Expert understanding of core front-end web technologies (JavaScript, HTML, SASS/SCSS/CSS, Drupal).
  • Experience with JavaScript libraries and frameworks.
  • Experience with templating languages.
  • Ability to write performant, reusable and clean code.
  • Experience troubleshooting cross-browser compatibility issues.
  • Comfortable working on a command line.
  • Experience with Reactive and Bootstrap preferred.
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time; ability to access, input, and retrieve information from the computer.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.
Nice to haves
  • Developing experience in an EdTech environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of version control systems, such as Git.
