In this article we will be seeing how to create an external list using SharePoint Designer 2010.

Steps Involved:

Open the SharePoint Designer 2010.

Click on Open Site.

Enter the URL of your SharePoint site.

Click OK.

Your SharePoint site will be opened in the Designer.

In the Navigation, click on Lists and Libraries.

In the ribbon, click on External List.

External Content Types Picker wizard will pop up.

Select the external content type and click OK (You can check the following link for creating the external content type).

Create External List wizard will pop up.

Enter the Name and Description for the list.

Go to the SharePoint Site.

External List is created successfully.

Click on External List, you can see the items displayed.
