Office 365 - SharePoint Online Default Admin Experience Setting

In this article, I'll discuss the new settings available for the new SharePoint Admin Center to open the default "SharePoint admin center" either in classic "SharePoint admin center" or new "SharePoint admin center".

Recently, I saw the "Settings" option available in new SharePoint admin center.

Background

From Office 365 portal, whenever we go to the "SharePoint Admin Center", the "Classic SharePoint Admin Center" opens by default (ex. https://knowledgejunction-admin.sharepoint.com/_layouts/15/online/SiteCollections.aspx ). We have an option there to try the new "SharePoint Admin Center" as,

So, here, the default admin center is classic "SharePoint Admin Center".

How to change the default admin center

When we click on the "Try it now" button as shown in figure 1, we will get redirected to the new "SharePoint Admin Center" (ex. https://knowledgejunction-admin.sharepoint.com/_layouts/15/online/AdminHome.aspx#/home).

If we check the left side navigation menu, there is an option, "Settings".

Here, we have a setting called "Default admin experience". Once we click on this option, the right side panel opens as,

The default setting for "opening SharePoint admin center" is turned off by default as shown in the above figure. Once we turn it on, when we click the "SharePoint" option from "Office admin center", the new "SharePoint admin center" will open by default.

Please note that once changed, this setting will be applied for every admin.

However, the admin will still have an option to return to the classic "SharePoint admin center" by clicking a link available in the left navigation.
