How to Assign Disk Quota to Particular User in Windows Server 2012 - Part 2

In my previous article I explained How to Assign Disk Quota to a Particular User in Windows Server 2012. This article is a continuation of that article.

In this article I will explain what is the necessary feature that needs to be installed so that a quota can be assigned to the user. I will also explain how to install this feature.

We need to install and configure the File Server and File Server Resource Manager, without these features the quota made by you will not be assigned.

Step 1

First of all login to your Windows Server 2012 as Administrator, after your logging process has been completed the Server Manager will be opened automatically, if it doesn't open then you must open it manually.

Now in the Server Manager click on the Manage Button to open the "Add Roles and Features" to add the new feature.

Step 2

Now a new window will be opened in which a few instructions are given, click on "Next".

Step 3

Now you will be prompted for "Installation type" from which you need to select the first option and then click on "Next".

Step 4

Now you need to select the server from the Server Pool, as I has only one server in the Server Pool my server is selected by default.

After selecting the Server click on "Next".

Step 5

Now a List of Rolls will appear in front of you, scroll down to find the option of "File and Storage Services" and expand it, after it is expanded it will show an option for "File and iSCSI Services"; again expand it. Now you will see a list of options available to be installed. Here select the File Server and File Server Resource Manager (my File Server is already installed).

Now a new window will be opened that will ask you to ADD Features. Click on "Add Features".

Step 6

Now the Select Features page will be opened, you don't need to select anything here so just click on "Next".

Now a "Confirmation Page" will be opened that will provide you the brief summary of selections made by you. Click on "Install" to start the installation process.

Now your installation will begin that will take a few minutes, depending on the processing power of your server.
