Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced individual with 6 to 8 years of prior experience in Insurance Finance & Accounting, particularly focused on Statutory reporting. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing and contributing to various financial reporting activities, including quarterly and annual filings, audits, analytics, and handling ad hoc requests from management, auditors, or regulators. This role requires the ability to work independently, meet tight deadlines, provide subject matter expertise (SME) support, conduct reviews of team work, and drive process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Statutory Financial Reporting. Lead or assist in the preparation of statutory financial reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements. Handle quarterly and annual filings efficiently.

  2. Ad Hoc Requests Support. Address ad hoc requests from management, auditors, or regulators promptly and accurately. Provide necessary financial data and analysis as needed.

  3. Financial Systems Implementation. Support management in financial systems implementation and enhancement projects. Contribute to the design, testing, and implementation phases.

  4. Roll-forwards and Analytics. Perform roll-forwards and other analytical tasks to facilitate financial reporting and analysis. Utilize MS Office Suite, particularly Excel, to prepare reports and presentations.

  5. SME Support and Review. Provide subject matter expertise to the team and conduct first-level reviews of their work. Ensure quality and accuracy in all financial deliverables.

  6. Time-Sensitive Deliverables. Independently manage time-sensitive deliverables during close periods. Prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines.

  7. Process Documentation and Review. Periodically review process documentation (Standard Operating Procedures - SOPs) to ensure accuracy and relevance. Identify areas for improvement and implement necessary changes.

  8. Communication and Liaison. Possess excellent communication and business writing skills. Collaborate effectively with multiple departments to gather required information and ensure smooth workflow.

  9. Adherence to Controls and Metrics. Ensure strict adherence to process service level metrics and controls. Prepare management reports to track performance and compliance.

  10. Process Improvement. Continuously identify opportunities for process improvements. Lead or participate in initiatives to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
  • 6 to 8 years of prior experience in Insurance Finance & Accounting, with a focus on Statutory reporting.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and trends effectively.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Proven track record of working independently and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, both verbally and in writing.
  • Prior experience in process improvement initiatives is desirable.
