Job Description

As a Transportation Operations Specialist (Trans Ops Specialist) at the Transportation Operation Center (TOC), you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth execution of transportation operations across Amazon's Supply Chain network. Operating at the heart of Amazon's logistics, you'll facilitate seamless communication between various stakeholders, troubleshoot issues, and drive process improvements to enhance customer experience and business continuity.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Inbound Operations. Manage relationships between vendors, carriers, and fulfillment centers (FCs) to ensure timely pick-up and delivery of freight. Address any issues that arise during the lifecycle of pick-up to delivery.
  2. Outbound Operations. Oversee FC, carrier, and carrier hub relationships to ensure timely dispatch of trucks for customer order deliveries. Resolve any issues encountered during freight movement from FC to customer premises.
  3. Communication. Liaise with external customers (carriers, vendors/suppliers) and internal stakeholders (Retail, Finance, Software Support, FCs) to address operational challenges and ensure alignment on objectives.
  4. Data Analysis. Pull data from various databases using Excel, SQL, and other data management systems. Analyze trends and performance metrics to drive business results and identify areas for process improvement.
  5. Process Improvement. Ideate and drive process improvements to streamline operations and enhance customer experience. Collaborate with Amazon technology teams to define business and functional requirements for software systems and tools used by TOC.
  6. Problem Escalation. Systematically escalate problems or variances in information and data to relevant teams and stakeholders. Follow through on resolutions to ensure timely resolution and business continuity.
  7. Time Management. Work within various time constraints to meet critical business needs. Measure and identify activities performed to optimize operational efficiency.
  8. Reporting. Prepare weekly reports outlining findings and variances to goals. Present findings in review forums to drive alignment and decision-making.
  9. Availability. Provide real-time customer experience support in a 24*7 operating environment.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience with Excel
  • Experience with SQL
