How to handle a project taht we have not yet experienced?

Hello sir! I want to ask about how to handle a software project that we have not yet experienced? Because I have take a software project before, a client-server software and I have not really understand about it. Finally I can't finish it ontime and the application not working as expected when I test it to my client the application has a lot of bugs and few of them I have not yet found the solution. I have same problem with some of my software before and that makes me frustrated.

 

Would you like to give me some advice about how to deal with a software project that we have not yet learn about it?
