It introduces a fictitious business model and lists some requirements to help us focus on the middle tier. It also introduces a new mechanism called SQLData, which combines both the ADO.NET DataSet and the ADO.NET DataReader into a single mechanism. The SQLData struct is used as the basis for developing a middle tier.
