SharePoint Designer Work flow: Part I

In this article I am explaining, how to make a simple SharePoint designer work flow for sending an Email conformation.

In this article I am explaining, how to make a simple SharePoint designer work flow for sending an email confirmation. More complex work flow I will explain in my coming articles.
  1. Here I am showing you a simple list having following columns. My objective is to send an email notification to the  "Assigned To" person.

  2. First of all you have to open your web application in SharePoint designer

  3. You have to go to File --> New --> Work Flow as shown below

  4. From the next screen, you have to give a name for your work flow.

  5. Select  the list where you want to incorporate the work flow from the second drop down as shown below

  6. Select Automatically start this work flow when new item is changed.

  7. Click Next

  8. From the next screen click on "Actions", then "Send an Email"

  9. You will get the below screen. Click on "this message" link

  10. Click on the red circle shown below

  11. Click on Workflow Lookup...

  12. Select "Current Item" and "Assigned To" from the next Screen

  13. You can add email subject and body 

  14. You can also insert any content from the list or work flow as shown below by clicking Add Lookup to Body
