What is the use of adding multiple Skin files in a single Theme folder ?

Its nice . But what is the special purpose of this themes. We have to use any alternate way for to do like this.

the article is of great help. a query for u too. do you know about any control, that will be placed over the master page as a menu? we people can place side menu through using websitemap but not the header menu.
