How To Configure Backup Settings In SharePoint 2013 Central Administration

Here, you can have your Farm back up configured for  various purposes, for example, to save a copy or to restore it to another Server. Here, you can configure the number of threads and back up file location for all the backups on this Central Admin, which will be by default.

How do we perform it?

Let’s open Central Admin of SharePoint on your machine. On your Windows desktop screen, click Start >> Administrative Tools >> SharePoint 2013 Central Administration.

  • Run it as an administrator to have the elevated privileges.
  • You will see the screenshot given below.

  • Central Admin is configured under the categories given above.
  • Click Backup and Restore.

  • Go to Farm Backup and Restore.

  • Click Configure backup settings.
  • You will see the screen given below. Click on it.

Configure

  • Number of threads
You can specify the number of threads as the number of backup or restore, which says the higher the number, the more improved the performance will be.

  • Backup File Location
Provide a path to restore the backup.

Once the configuration is done, click OK.

The backup configuration will be configured as default on the Central Administration Server for all the backup or restore Services on the Admin Center.
