Introduction to Power BI Desktop
Power BI Desktop is a free tool where users can install the application in their local machine and visualize the data according to the business requirements.
Nowadays most business users who use BI (Business Intellegence) use Power BI to generate various types of reports.
Below are the steps to download Power BI Desktop:
- Open Google and write in the search text box:

- Open this link.
- Click on download button under Microsoft Power BI Desktop.
Below are the steps to install Microsoft Power BI Desktop:
Step 1
Click on the Power BI exe to install Power BI desktop tool, the below window will get displayed, select the language and click on the next button.
Step 2
In any machine if Internet Explorer (IE) version is not updated or it is below Version 9, Microsoft Power BI will not get installed.
Pre-requisite
Download the latest version and install it on your machine to move to next step.
Step 3
Window installer will be installed in your machine.
Step 4
Click on Next button to start installing Power BI Desktop
Step 5
Click on checkbox to accept the terms license agreement and click on Next button
Step 6
Select the path where you want to install Power BI or by default it will consider as C:\Program Files \ Microsoft Power BI Desktop\ and click on Next Button.
Step 7
From the below window click on install button to proceed to the next step
Step 8
In the below window once user clicks on the Next button it will start processing and updating the necessary components.
Step 9
Click on the Finish button and Click on checkbox to launch Microsoft Power BI Desktop
Step 10
Wait for a few seconds to start Power BI Desktop.
Step 11
Fill in all the mandatory valid details from the below form and click on Done button.
Step 12
Click on Get Data to proceed further with Power BI Dashboard or click on Try Free button or Sign in button, to work on the dashboard.
