How To Update Graphics Card In Windows 10

Introduction

A piece of hardware that is installed on a computer is also known as a video card, display card, or graphics adapter is generally known as a Graphics Card. It generates all the text and pictures which displayed on your screen. Every processor has a built-in onboard graphics card.

The Work of the graphics card is to handle all works like desktop designing, decoding videos, and gaming programs. Intel and NVIDIA manufacture Graphical Processing Units (GPU) for modern PCs and laptops. When we play PC games, the Graphical Processing Units (GPU) play an important and critical role. If we want to play newer PC games, then we need enough powerful GPU.

To get a better experience and performance of newer games, the user should have to update the graphics card or driver from time to time. Intel and NVIDIA both frequently release new graphics card updates.

This tutorial will show you various methods on how to update the graphics card(s) in Windows 10.

Method 1. Through Device Manager

You can also easily update the graphics card(s) in your system through Device Manager.

Step 1. You can click Start and type Device Manager. Then click Device Manager to open Windows Device Manager. Alternatively, you can press the "Windows + X" key, and click Device Manager to open it.

Step 2. Double-click on Display adapters, then you will see the installed graphics card(s) on your Windows 10.

Step 3. Right-click on the graphics card and select "Update driver".

Step 4. "Update Drivers - <Graphics card name>" Windows will appear on the screen and choose any option from these two options.

A) Select the "Search automatically for updated driver software" option and if is found any update, it will automatically install the latest update.

B) Select the "Browse my computer for driver software" option.

Step 5. After clicking on the "Browse my computer for driver software" option, new windows will appear on the screen. Then, click on "Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer" and click next.

Step 6. The list of various models will appear on the screen then, select the latest device drivers you want to install on your system and then click next.

Alternatively, if you have a disk that contains the driver you want to install, then click on "Have Disk".

Step 7. After this, the installation process will be started automatically.

Step 8. After finishing the successful installation, the message will be shown on the screen, then restart your system to see the effects.

Method 2. Through System Manufacturer

Step 1. Navigate the System's Manufacturer Website, such as for Dell users, go to the Dell Website and enter the Serial Number of your Laptop or PC then click on the Search or Detect PC option.

Note. To find the Serial Number of your laptop or PC, type "wmic bios get serial number" in Command Prompt (Cmd).

Step 2. Click on the "Drivers and Downloads" option and then, a list of drivers will appear on the screen and download the most suitable driver updates you want.

Step 3. Open the downloaded file and follow the instructions to update the graphics card(s) or drivers.

Step 4. Restart your system to see the effects.
