Thank you for this interesting article; I was interested in knowing how to create an Automation Server using .Net; I thought it is not possible so I will certainly try this. Note however that although there might be something about Silverlight that makes it necesssary to provide Administrator privileges for COM Automation, Administrator privileges is not necessary when the client and server are all unmanaged applications.

  I tried writing into registry from COM after installing the application, which failed. Although it worked when ran the application from VS2010.

  Hi Sam, Thanks for your comment. As i mentioned in this article, we are using the COM in Silverlight Out Of Browser Application [offline Installable Application] not in Silverlight web application. if you develop a Silverlight OOB application it needs Installation so that we can work on offline. By default, the installation requires Administrator privilege. Therefore, this will work fine. I am working on a project, which is Silverlight OOB Application in that we are using this COM and its working fine. We will distribute the demo application as an installable package.   Hi Sam, As i told, the Silverlight OOB Application is as like Windows Application with some limitations. By default we need administrator privilege for installing the application. So no need to worry about the administrator privilege for COM.
