  ..what a shame Delphi is that low on the list :( I have used Delphi from college time, back in 1996 from Delphi 1 and until 2003..great an very powerful tool !!

    Yes. I used Delphi in 1998-2000 while building software using Turbo Pascal. Then C# came and I fully moved to C#. Delphi was definitely one of the best tools before Visual Studio took over.

  Yes and it also depends on what you are developing. Demand of C# is very high in the commercial world while you will not see too many jobs for C/C . In Philadelphia area, we do not have enough good C# and .NET developers.

  Really nice article. Incidentally i know all top 4 languages. 3 from my college study and 1 (C#) from c-sharpcorner delhi chapter. So what i learn from this article, refine the most demanded language that is C. I gave 3 interviews so far and in most of them i have the choice of choosing among C,C and Java. As per freshers POV these three languages are really in demand (In India AFAIK) . I think as the Microsoft product grows the demand of C# will increase. But beating C would not be an easy task specially when C 11 and C 14 coming in with a lot of power pack features.

  Yes Sam. But remember, not real companies go post on Craigslist. CL is used by small and startups who do not want to pay for job posting. From LinkedIn, Glassdoors and other job websites, C# is one of the hottest language in demand. From my experience, in Philly area, we can't find good enough C# and .NET developers. KForce, one of the top recruiting firm in Philly has so many open job positions.

    YES, so I am working on "The Best Programming Language" article, that will focus on what a programmer's goal is and what is the best language out there in terms of salary, jobs and so on. From my experience (Silicon Valley excluded), PHP developers don't make much money.

    Yes, Mahesh, but note that nowhere does the article say "job posting", "hottest language in demand" and "can't find". My point is that there are many ways to define popularity. I provided one example. The problem with providing examples is that people often criticize the example as if they are invalidating the point that the example is intended to clarify. Perhaps it would help to clarify what you mean by popularity in the article.

  Yes it is difficult to determine popularity, for one thing there are many ways to define popularity. If the languages are rated based on the most number of job posts on Craigslist then PHP is most popular and Python is less than 3%.
