The new html5 types described are very useful, but lots of people get hung up trying to override the type="text" rendered by the <asp:Textbox>. If you'd like to use these in postbacks, sample code and free DLL are available at html5asp.sourceforge.net. Drop me a note if you see any missing features or you'd like to join the open source project.
