New Modifications and Improvements to the Azure Stream Analytics No-Code Editor

Introduction

Azure Stream Analytics is a real-time analytics service provided by Microsoft Azure that enables the processing and analyzing of streaming data in real time. It is particularly useful for handling large volumes of data from various sources, such as sensors, devices, social media, and applications. Stream Analytics allows you to gain valuable insights, detect patterns, and trigger actions based on the streaming data.

  • Input Sources: Stream Analytics Jobs start by defining one or more input sources, which can be streams of data from various Azure and non-Azure sources. Examples include Azure Event Hubs, Azure IoT Hub, Azure Blob Storage, and more.
  • Query Language: Stream Analytics Jobs use a SQL-like query language for processing and transforming the incoming streaming data. This query language allows you to filter, aggregate, and manipulate data in real time.
  • Output Destinations: Common output destinations include Azure SQL Database, Azure Blob Storage, Azure Table Storage, and Power BI. This allows you to store, visualize, or further analyze the results.

Notable advancements consist

Improved user experience for operators on the canvas: By selecting the "+" icon while hovering over the connection line, you may now easily create an operator on the canvas between two connected nodes. Furthermore, choosing the "+" icon when hovering over a node makes it simple to add an operator to that particular node. The addition of a delete button that appears when hovering over a connection line further streamlines the process of removing a connection line. For a more user-friendly experience, these simple changes are meant to streamline the architecture of your stream processing logic.

Introducing new job-related instructional bubbles: You will now encounter instructional bubbles when you create a new stream analytics task in the Azure Stream Analytics interface and use the no-code editor. When you open a job, these bubbles will help you with activities like adding inputs, outputs, operators, and more by guiding you through the configuration process with the no-code editor.

Change from the no-code editor to the query editor: Just click the "edit query" button in the stream analytics job query blade to make changes to your query and enter query editor mode. When you switch, you can add and modify input/output/function/query blades, which allows you to modify your job within these blades in a comprehensive way. It's crucial to understand that you cannot return to the no-code editor mode after you have selected the query editor option.
