How to convert art to NFT? First, it's worth understanding what crypto art is. NFT tokens are a kind of digital certificate that confirms the right to own a virtual asset, be it an image, video or audio. Virtual objects could be bought even before the advent of NFT, but before the data of the copyright holder was not recorded anywhere - now they are openly stored on blockchain platforms. Even after the sale, the NFT object remains on the Internet: anyone can download it, print it and, for example, hang it on the wall, but the buyer owns the original.
What are NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens)
NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) have become extremely popular this year and some NFTs have sold for millions of dollars. As per Wikipedia “A non-fungible token (NFT) is a unit of data stored on a digital ledger, called a blockchain, that certifies a digital asset to be unique and therefore not interchangeable. NFTs can be used to represent items such as photos, videos, audio, and other types of digital files.”
NFT Marketplace websites or NFT marketplaces are used to mint NFTs and sell NFTs. NFTs are digital collectibles that are one-of-a-kind, and you can't exchange them for another token like you can with other cryptos. OpenSea was founded in 2017 by Devin Finzer and Alex Atallah. OpenSea claims of being the world's largest NFT marketplace. OpenSea describes itself as "the first and largest marketplace for user-owned digital products,". According to its website they have 113,000 users, 15.5 million NFTs, and a $354 million in trade volume. It offers non-fungible tokens(NFTs), such as art, censorship-resistant domain names, virtual worlds, trade cards and collectibles. Exclusive digital assets such as Axies, ENS names, CryptoKitties, Decentraland, and more are available to purchase, sell, and discover.
Nifty Gateway
When Beeple sold CROSSROAD for a then-record $6.6 million at Nifty Gateway, it was a historic auction. This platform now has the highest sales volume and is home to many of the celebrity drops that you hear about on Twitter. Nifty makes use of "open editions," which are limited-edition books created for a limited time and sold at a fixed price. There will be no additional NFTs issued when the window closes. It allows collectors to buy NFTs with a credit card, which is extremely useful for onboarding new users who have never used cryptocurrency.
Rarible
Rarible purchases and sells NFTs in a variety of areas. It includes art, music, domains, memes, photography, gaming and others. Rarible is an NFT marketplace that is community-owned, with "owners" holding the ERC-20 RARI token. Rarible will soon be regulated by Ethereum blockchain regulations, which allow for public, permissionless use. The most active buyers and sellers can vote for platform updates and participate in moderation decisions using the RARI governance token. The site provides a special focus on art assets. The designer can even present a preview look of their product to everyone who visits Rarible, but only the purchaser will get access to the whole project.
SuperRare
SuperRare is primarily a marketplace for consumers to buy and sell one-of-a-kind, limited-edition digital artworks. Art, list prices, sale prices, and timed auctions are shown in a tile of windows similar to an Instagram profile. Each piece of art is generated by a network artist and tokenized as a crypto-collectible digital commodity that you can own and trade. Ether, is used in all transactions.
On top of the marketplace, SuperRare has established a social network for its users. Based on the fact that digital collectibles have a transparent ownership history, they are suitable for a social environment.
Foundation
Foundation is a specialised platform that brings together digital innovators, crypto natives, and collectors to advance culture. It refers to itself as the "new creative economy." Its primary concentration is on digital art. To join Foundation as a content provider, an artist must be invited by another artist, and each artist is only allowed to share one invite. Before they can build an artist profile, it is required to mint an NFT, or purchase artwork from the site. Users must first add their MetaMask wallet with ether.
AtomicMarket
AtomicMarket is used by several websites. Anyone can use the Atomic Asset standard to tokenize and create digital assets, as well as buy, trade, and auction them. AtomicMarket is an NFT market with shared liquidity, which means that everything listed on one market is also listed on all others. You can both publish your own NFTs for sale and browse existing listings on AtomicMarket. Genuine NFTs marked with a verification tick are easy to spot. Collections that are malicious have been blacklisted.
Async Art
Async Art is a blockchain-based artistic movement. “Programmable art” is a trademark of this platform. Programmable art can be made, collected, and traded. Both "Masters" and "Layers" are available for purchase. Layers are the individual components that make up the Master image, whereas a Master is a one-of-a-kind art piece. The artist decides what particular abilities each layer should have. If you make a change to a Layer, it will be reflected in the Master image, regardless of who owns it. Artists define the parameters of their work and give collectors complete control over any component. They may allow someone to adjust the background, a character's position, or the colour of the sky.
Mintable
Mintable is a similar-to-Ebay two-sided marketplace for buying and selling NFTs. The site, which is built on the Ethereum and Zilliqa blockchains, is connected with MetaMask, which allows buyers to create cryptocurrency wallets. It is required to create profiles and loading their wallets. Buyers can purchase featured items or bid on auctions. Content creators may simply convert artwork, audio, PDFs, pictures, and other media into a blockchain item and build a smart contract without having to code it themselves.
MakersPlace
MakersPlace is a site dedicated to digital art. A gallery of digital artwork styled around collections and profiles of creators. Last March, MakersPlace set a new sales record by auctioning Beeple's classic Everydays: The First 5000 Days for approximately $70 million. The creator issues and signs each piece, which is then permanently recorded and validated through the blockchain. The site is comprehensive and easy to navigate thanks to detailed artist profiles, easily monitored ownership records, and searchable tags. A digital auction or a fixed price sale can be used to purchase work, as can either or a normal credit card.
KnownOrigin
KnownOrigin is an online marketplace where you can find and purchase rare digital artwork. Every piece of digital art on KnownOrigin is genuine and totally unique. On this platform, creators are able to display, promote, and sell their work directly to true collectors. The Ethereum blockchain protects it. To become a creator, artists must submit an application, but artist submissions are now closed.
