Apple Passes NOKIA in SmartPhones Sales and Takes the Lead

Apple Becomes World's Number One Smart Phone Vendor

I was always wondering when and if, will it be Apple or Samsung that will change the current dynamics of the top smart phone manufacturer and shake NOKIA's world who has been ruling it for years. Some people wonder if NOKIA is Dead.

In a report published by Strategy Analytics, a Boston based Strategy Analytics research and consulting firm; the global smartphone shipments grew 76 percent and reached 110 million devices in a single quarter, Q2, 2011. The report says both Apple and Samsung overtook long-time volume leader Nokia for the top two spots in their rankings. I would like to see when iPhone 5 comes to market.

Following table shows the data.

I recently purchased a Windows Phone and an Android phone, both manufactured by Samsung. If one of the most hyped NOKIA's N5 does not prove what it promises, I see Samsung is taking over Apple and NOKIA very soon.

Samsung already leads smart devices market in USA.
