Convert Visuals into Apps with Express Designs in PowerApps

This blog helps to understand how you can convert a handwritten form or a pdf form or images to PowerApps form by using express designs.

Hi Folks! I am excited to share with you a new feature of power apps i.e., Express designs. As you know Microsoft comes with amazing feature everyday and this time it comes up which I was always thinking of like if I would have a form drawn on pen & paper can I just convert into an app? And yes! This time Microsoft make it possible through PowerApps express designs.

So, let's discuss how we can use PowerApps express designs to convert our images into stunning apps.

What is Express Design in Power apps?

Express design can be defined as AI-Cognitive model which convert handwritten form (Paper form), Whiteboard sketches, directly into PowerApps form. This helps to assist more people in driving innovation for their business with low code apps from images and files.

Let us consider the below screenshot for the paper form. It is a sample interview scheduler form which First name, Last name,DOB,Gender,Date of Interview,Education,Skillset,Designation fields.

Let us create PowerApps from above image. Below are the steps discussed: -

Step 1 - Go to make.powerapps.com.

Step 2 - Select Image as shown in the screenshot.

Step 3 - Before uploading any image, please go through below recommendations and non-recommended stuffs.

Step 4 - Click on next and you will get below screen.

Step 5 - Give the Name of the app, select upload my own option, upload the image, select format as phone and click next.

Step 6 - It will identify the components for you. Refer below screenshot:-

Step 7 - You can tag them as per the requirement. For example ,in the screenshot you can change the label Schedule to button control and click on next.

Step 8 - You can create a data verse table, or you can skip for now.

Step 9 - Click on create and it will create app for you.

Step 10 - The final app is created by PowerApps. I have made few formats like background color and Alignment in screenshot for look and feel.

So this way you can create an app from images.
