In SharePoint 2010, the Retention Policies are applicable only to
1.List or Libraries
2.Content Types.
In SharePoint 2013, Retention Policies are extended to sites as well. The following are the new features introduced
1.Site Deletion
2.Site Closure
3 Site Collection Closure.
