Abstract:
Artificial intelligence (AI) refers to intelligence exhibited by machines as opposed to natural intelligence demonstrated by animals such as humans. According to leading AI textbooks, the area is defined as the study of "intelligent agents": any system that senses its surroundings and performs actions that optimize its chances of attaining its goals. Some popular sources use the word "artificial intelligence" to denote robots that replicate "cognitive" processes associated with the human mind, such as "learning" and "problem-solving," however most AI researchers reject this definition.
