you can do it with the XMLHttpRequest object through the java script.
Ajax control was pluggin tool upto visual studio 2005. We need to add the library to get the ajax controls.
But visual studio 2008 onwards, it has been added as part of the framework. However it will not list all the control.
It has only limited like script manager, updata panel, progress, etc.., If you want to use other controls then you can to download and add the ajax reference.
