One more thing, now that you are just making entry, consider start learning C# with ASP.NET Core right away.

 

The existing ASP.NET is likely to fade in next few years. It will still be around (just as VB6 still is!) 

 

Also you didn't mention if you have done Forms development exclusive or have some web experience as well. The web stuff is going to HUGELY different than the Forms development.

For someone coming from VB6 background (as was I) there is going to be a big paradigm shift in thinking and approaching the problem.

 

If you have written custom business classes (for example, clsCustomer, clsOrder, Data Access Layer, etc) then you are in slightly better shape.

 

I suggest watch free online video tutorials on Microsoft Virtual Academy, PragimTech and Jamie King C# videos on YouTube.

 

There might be blogs / articles written specifically for some coming from VB6 background to C#. Just google it.
