We have just recrified your compile time error in respect of its execution. However, the scenario of your program cannot be determined with a piece of snippet that you had captured. It was a bad practice to write the same thing in catch block. Just generally aware that writing code on catch block doesn't mean your code is safe, if any error occured it can thrown exception. Coming to your question for not working is may not match with the condition in Regex.IsMatch function. I believe that it is not a real question and you are trying to catch the workflow of C#, there are various forms of Regex, please do read the documentation before using it. Good Luck

HeyYou cannot use +=1 on string array, it works on operand. It should be like // virus +=1; label1.Text = "virus"+ st; As you are using foreach iterator, the value str contains the current item
