Any good server monitoring tools?

Does anyone know any good server monitoring tools that I can use to make sure that my web server is up and is responding in reasonable times? Possibly even check a SQL Server but that isn't as important.

hmmm, i actually wrote one a while back dont know what i did with it all it does is ping my sites to see if they are up. it wouldnt be to much of a time consumer if you write such thing unless ur looking for more details in the reports have a look at http://www.paessler.com/ipcheck/?banner=GoogleIPC2 never used it so i cant recommend it
