I don’t think you can merge in that manner, try running the merge function, Then print(b), Return value of dict.update is None, but it makes the mutation. >>> test = { "test" : 1 } >>> test1 = { "test1" : "2" } >>> test.update(test1) >>> print (test) { 'test' : 1 , 'test1' : '2' }
