when we can use our DLL in multiple application after adding their reference, then what are the advantages of shared assembly?

Shared assemblies are used when you need same assembly to be shared by multiple applications. Advantage is, you don't have to copy multiple copies of same assembly at different places. You just deploy your assembly (DLL) to GAC and it is being accessed form GAC by multiple applications.
