Best start to getting qualified

Hi there, in new here, i just signed up,
Im interested in a career of Software development, over the last two months i have studied a bit of Java and C# programming languages. To get a job as either a Java or c sharp developer i know you need qualifications. Most courses availble seem to cost over 1000 GBPs, are there any out there which last about 1 to 4 months costing less than 500 GBPs???

Any info on how to get started in this industry would be great, any advice you can give me will be well received

There is so much free learning material out there, you have no idea. Microsoft is giving away a lot of free stuff specially online training and videos.

What are you trying to learn? Programming .NET is a huge area and it will take years to learn or even touch everything. First, you need to decide, what do you want to learn. Windows, Web, Games, Data ..

Without funds for courses, the other alternative is to get a job doing something that is not programming but in a company or orgainzation that has programmers. If you can show them that you can program, then they might use you to program. The problem is that in order to get work as a programmer, you need either experience or training and to get the experience you need the work. Training, as you know, costs money. To break that loop, you need to be able to read and learn on your own. It really helps if you can do the work for an employer without costing them anything such as the cost of training you. If possible, it could help to do some programming for free, to get experience and such.

Something else that an employer might appreciate is a person that can communicate with the "users" (the people that will use the program), and determine what they need. The ability to do that can be very valuable.

Is there a library you can borrow books from? They might have some useful books.

You're already have started by coming to this site and posting your questions. We have some beginner books on this site. Start with Programming C# book and other ebooks. If you have any questions just post them here or search the website and forums.
