c sharp and 3d gaming

Question

i have never tried any game writing , but i have a big project comming up for college and i would like to make a 3d game. i know everyone says c, or c++ is better for game programming, but i want to do it in c sharp as thats all i know so far. anyone any ideas where id start, or any books that might be good to help me with my task?any info would be useful as i really dont know where to start. id love to make a simple simple 3d shooter, or it that aiming way to high ( pardon the pun!)
