Can we encrpt varbinary(max) column data ?

Question

We are implementing the Always Encrypted encryption feature for our application database.

There is a table with varbinary(max) column storing binary data of images, pdf document etc.

 

Is the Always Encrypted feature supports varbinary(max) column encryption? if yes, how to do it using SQL Server 2016?

 

Can anyone please support ?
