Can't start Visual Studio when UAC is turned off

Question

Does anyone know why when I have my UAC turned off in Vista it won't start Visual Studio? It tells me that it can't start the application and closes.

I doubt that Microsoft would not provide more information than that. If I am correct then you need to provide the additional information. Even if they don't provide additional information, there is not much we can do that I can think of. Please, please do read the readme file(s) and other installation documentation. If all else fails, I think you can call Microsoft for assistance with setup; you pay for the long-distance call, which these days might be nothing for you, but otherwise it is free. It might be possible that there is confusion over the license; I suppose that Microsoft might be cryptic if the software things there is not a valid license. Perhaps you need to just get Microsoft to help you with the license.

Sam, It is a legitimate copy that I downloaded from Microsoft's product website. It was originally a trial edition that I purchased the license for.

All modern Microsoft products provide a more meaningful error message than "won't start". Since that is the only error message, it is likely a counterfeit copy; call the police. Microsoft software does not just say "won't start" or "can't start" as an error message.
