CLI in .NET

The CLI (Common Language Infrastructure) is just the standardized version of Microsoft's CLR (Common Language Runtime). The latest version of the standard was published in 2005 by ECMA and ratified in 2006 by ISO.

For practical purposes, you can assume the CLR and CLI are the same though some minor changes have been made to the former since the standards were published.
