I would recommend to study and prepare for the AZ-900 exam from Microsoft. This will give you an overall concept of cloud computing using Microsoft services. However, very similar services are used by other providers like Amazon, Google etc. and you will have the foundations required to work further in any area of cloud computing.

Cloud computing is the practice of using a network of remote servers hosted on the Internet to store, manage, and process data, rather than a local server or a personal computer.
This is a great question at this time, and I would not just give you a definition.
Instead, I would suggest you to take a look over here -

After that, please register yourself with outlook and Hotmail account and do some practical stuff at Azure Portal. You would get USD 200 or 250 credit to play around. It would certainly going to enhance length and breadth of your knowledge around Modern Cloud Computing.
You would get every month credit say USD 25 later on. It would give you base to start.
At Last, owing to my 12 years of offshore/onsite experience, I would say ' Microsoft Cloud Computing' or Azure has a great scope and in demand.
I assume by 2020 almost everything would be at Cloud, so buddy catch the bus at right time.

Cloud Computing is a vast area. Simply to explain the core concept. I will explain it using an analogy i.e. electricity services. Let us take a example you have a fan and when you want to switch it on you simply push the button and fan is on you don't have to think how electricity is being served to you how it is being generated and how wiring is done and many more, now think is as you have a application (Web, Mobile etc) and if you want to deploy the same and you do it traditional way then you have to focus on various aspects i.e. storage, hosting solution, scalability, agility, resources, security etc. So, now cloud computing comes into picture it just gives you a platform as you want and make it inexpensive as you have to pay as you consume the services. All you have to do is simply get your application to cloud and rest of things is being taken care by the cloud service provider itself. Which gives you more time to focus on your business and application rather than infrastructure and other scenarios. Cloud computing is very big topic. It also varies from role to role basis like Development role, IT Pro role etc. Also various technolgy are now in cloud computing.

Could you please elaborate some more details what exactly details you want to know.
