configuration of Node JS project

Question

hi i have a node js project which i want to configure on my machine i want to run it on my machine i have already installed node js  v 10 , it is up and running now I put the folder in my directory and using npm install I install all packages and now when i run npm start it listen on some port using localhost://8888 it shows the UI as well , My project is using Mongo db i have not set anything for it when i am trying to login the application it did nothing i assume that for Mongo i need to do something can someone assists me how to configure it like in normal php i knew we have mysql db and we set its configuration in config file.
