connectivity to database

How can i connect to my oracle database using my ado .net application? I mean how can i get the connection string to give in the appconfig file?

Hello Sijo,

First off you need to download and install ODP from this site http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/topics/dotnet/index-085163.html

After installation add a reference of the assembly Oracle.DataAccess.dll.

using Oracle.DataAccess.Client; // ODP.NET Oracle managed provider
using Oracle.DataAccess.Types;

string oradb = "Data Source=ORCL;User Id=hr;Password=hr;";
OracleConnection conn = new OracleConnection(oradb); // C#

OracleCommand cmd = new OracleCommand();
cmd.Connection = conn;

cmd.CommandText = "select department_name from departments where department_id = 10"; cmd.CommandType = CommandType.Text;

OracleDataReader dr = cmd.ExecuteReader();
dr.Read();

conn.Dispose();
}
