Datagrids with in-place-editting and various controls inside?

S4E

I was thinking of implementing 'in-place-editting' within the cells of a datagrid, which would have two columns, one representing the PropertyName and the other for its value e.g. 'Car Brand' -> Mercedes 'Colour' -> Red Capacity -> 1900 Taxed -> Yes. However, I want to use various control in the 'values' column, like a combobox for the Colour Row, edit box for the 'car brand' row, a CheckBox for the 'taxed' row etc. (Perhaps all sorts of control will be used in the end, from dateTime to CheckBoxes.) Can anyone suggest how I might go about doing this sort of thing?

I looked at that link, thanks. It seems to explain how to put the same control-type into each row of ONE column. (So a column can be created that will show a combobox, then all rows of that datagrid will have a combobox in that column.) BUT... Is it possible to have a column that will allow you to show different controls on different rows? E.g. visualise the following 2 column table, which has 3 rows: Col1 Col2 Row1 Combo Row2 Checkbox Row3 Textbox How can this be done? Would greatly appreciate the assistance of the .NET/c# experts out there...!

I never used PropertyGrid, but it's a well known control - we can see it in Properties window of VisualStudio. Next solution is to write own control "UniControl" for DataGrid with possibilities of TextBox, ComboBox, CheckBox etc. I have such control, but it's strongly connected with other my controls - not usable as single and has some troubles and mistakes. I think, it would be inherited from TextBox and would have buttons, check signs etc. drawn with ControlPaint class. You can see at here at another trying.

Had a quick look at the .NET documentation on this class and it seems like its there to give you access to the various properties of other forms controls, rather than the sort of use I need. Is this right? Or are you saying you've used this control to manage name-value pairs before, and been able to use various controls to set the values?

See PropertyGrid class, not DataGrid (in System.Windows.Forms)
