Date time Formats

Question

I need to compare string date='May 16, 2010 7:20:12 AM CDT' with Current date time . I am getting the below exception when I convert date to datetime. 'Invalid date time format'

Hey DateTime.ParseExtract(..) needs the extact format as you mentioned otherwise it throws exception. Use this one string dts = "Thursday, May 11, 2017 1:09:08 AM CDT" ; var dt = DateTime.Parse(dts.Replace( "CDT" , "" )).Add( new TimeSpan(05, 00, 00)); var GMT =dt.ToString( "dddd, MMM dd, yyyy H:mm:ss tt zzz" ); CDT stands for Central Daylight Time . GMT is known as Greenwich Mean Time . GMT is 5 hours ahead of CDT. You were supposed to use date in date time data type instead of string.

Hey Central Daylight Time (CDT) is 5 hours behind Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). This time zone is a Daylight Saving Time time zone and is used in: North America. Amit, When I run the code date converts from May 16, 2010 7:20:12 AM CDT to 5/16/2010 5:50:12 PM .If we compare it with datetime.now then it is correct or not because time changes from 7:20:12 AM to 5:50:12 PM?

what is CDT? remove CDT string date="May 16, 2010 7:20:12 AM CDT " this is not a correct format thats why you are getting error it should be string date="May 16, 2010 7:20:12 AM "
