DICOM in VB.Net

Although DICOM enables you to work with any medical equipment that supports the standard, it's not really as easy as reading one or two (or 200) articles and creating one application to cover everything out there.

If you are a newcomer to the field, your best bet is to start learning the standard, and at the same time use a ready library that will do most of the work for you. Keep in mind, even with a good library, you must understand what the DICOM spec is about.

There are free libraries such as DICOM Sharp and mDCM but with most free libraries you usually get little documentation and no technical support at all.

If you have the budget for a commercial toolkit such as Leadtools, you usually get decent help files and technical support that's either free as part of the price, or costs an extra premium. If you want to consider buying such a toolkit, make sure to ask about the cost of support before buying.
