DropdownList who has all world's countries

Question

Hello everyone,

I want to please know how I could do a dropdown list in ASP.NET that automatically includes all countries. I know how to make a simple drop-down list in asp.net, but it would be exhausting to have to fill by myself all over the world.

Should I do an import?

Please help.

I'm puzzled by that error message (there is no element with a key of 'Countries') since, according to this link: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.web.mvc.controllerbase.viewbag(v=vs.118).aspx ViewBag is a dynamic object whose properties you can define yourself. So we should be able to give it a Countries property and then retrieve the value of that property in the view. Just wondering whether you have the controller code in the right place? I think we've been talking at cross-purposes here, Ramses, because I've been using an ASP.NET web form project and it appears that you're using MVC Razor. Thank you sir, When I copy and I paste your code in my controller (adding biensur using System.Globalization;) I get errors here: DropDownList1.DataSource = Countries; DropDownList1.DataBind (); It is "DropDownList1" which is underlined in red. Also, what does he have to put code in my view cshtml? Something like this: @ Html.DropDownList (model => model.countries)?

I think to make life easier I'd change the method so that it returns the names of the countries as strings rather than in a RegionInfo object. Here's how you can get a list of all the countries in the world just by using classes in the System.Globalization namespace. http://justinchronicles.wordpress.com/2012/03/15/how-to-get-list-of-countries-defined-in-iso-3166-1-programatically-by-c-shar/ It should then be just a matter of binding this list to your DropDownList control.
