Requirement : I want to perform Edit/Update gridview operation for a sql server table.

Condition Applied : Can't add a primary key to the table.

Another problem : Not able get the oldvalues within GridView1_RowUpdating. Please suggest

Yes you can do this : update tablename set col1=changedValue, col2=changedValue where col1=oldValue, col2=oldValue

I want to update the columns bases on the oldvalues of that row.

Lets say there are 2 columns within the gridview namely col1 & col2.

Query : "update tablename set col1=changedValue, col2=changedValue where col1=oldValue, col2=oldValue"

I can do as I have mentioned above.

NOTE : I know its bad idea but its dummy table and we can't alter that.

It's bad idea, still you can do it by adding one column (example slno / serialnumber) to maintain serial number. While insert data get max serailnumber then add 1 number and insert it so through this column you can perform update and delete. You may face problem later.

Hi, As per my opinion this is not good way to create table structure without primary in long run. It will create problems when you have Hugh data. On what bases you are planning to update ?
