Excel to XML Conversion

Hello Guys...

here i am converting a excel sheet in to xml format....but what problem i am facing is that...i am having many of the fields which are not having any data....so for that i m getting a blank tag like <event-name /> 

but what i want..this tag should be come in the format  <event-name> </event-name>

how to make it possible....please help me out of this.....thanx in advace...i wll be very much obliged to you if u help in this.....
