It means your query is taking longer than the default 30 seconds, you need to optimize the query like you can use the index on necessary columns. for testing use this cmd.CommandTimeout = 120; // seconds cmd.ExecuteNonQuery(); If it solves your problem then it directly means you need to optimize the query.

Hi, Instead of doing conection open and close better use using block as shown: using (SqlConnection connection = new SqlConnection(connectionString)) { conn.Open(); // use the connection here } This might can solve your problem and is a recommended way of using connection.

hi , please check connection is already open, before opening add if clause to check connection and then open connection.after excution close connection. for time out increase timeout to 120 or 180 sec. cmd.CommandTimeout = 180; cmd.ExecuteNonQuery(); you can add time out parameter in connection string as well.
