Fetch data from database with LINQ.

Question

I am looking at the exercise on repeateriterationoncart and trying to impliment same in my project website and when i click on Add in solution explorer to include the Class LINQ TO SQL (DBML file to App_Code folder) it does not exist in my VS 2019. Is it renamed something else?

Hi Peter, You are welcome!! Are you using asp.net webforms or MVC? If you are doing new project then I would suggest that go with Entity Framework with generic repository pattern. Hi, First you need to add this component through Visual Stuio Installer from Individual component. - First Open Visual Studio Installer or (Tool >> Get Tools and Features) - Select individual tab >> Linq to SQL as shown

I am currently working on own project that access database via procedures and objectdatasource. So in your opinion should i use the LINQ TO SQL file while carry on with this particular project? as i understand from what you mention, the Entity Framework is best started from new project?

I have been using asp.net webforms. looking at LINQ to SQL examples it does mention entity frameworks for database access. Is entity frameworks similar to LINQ to SQL DBML file structure.

Thanks that was helpful. Can you point me in the right direction on LINK TO SQL learning as i am new to this. I more use to ADO.NET and want to try using this technology to retrieve data and also manipulate data. Thanks
