fix Image size in data gridview.

Hello,

I have images in database in binary format. I need to show them in data gridview. Problem is that i need to fix size of image dynamically. How can I handle Image size?

Hi Ankit,

There are two methods to achieve your goal.
1. Convert to fix size image while saving into the db.
2. convert to fix size while retrieving from db.

I prefer first coz its less time consuming .

Below is code to size the images.

public static System.Drawing.Image ScaleImage(System.Drawing.Image image, int maxHeight)
{
var ratio = (double)maxHeight / image.Height;
var newWidth = (int)(image.Width * ratio);
var newHeight = (int)(image.Height * ratio);
var newImage = new Bitmap(newWidth, newHeight);
using (var g = Graphics.FromImage(newImage))
{
g.DrawImage(image, 0, 0, newWidth, newHeight);
}
return newImage;
}

Hi Ankit,

Ya sure.

First of all get the bytes array of the image (might be from db) in to a byte[] variable and there is a method of Image
class called ConvertFromByte i clearly not remember the method name but its something like this.

It will accept byte[] array and return Image then pass that Image to this function which will again convert this image to a fixed proportionate size.

Now you are ready to show it to gridview.
